Pollen allergy is the disease or the allergy cause due to the pollen grains of seasonal flowering plants. Pollen grains remain suspended in air during the time of cross pollination of plants. Therefore if any person who is allergic to pollen inhales the dust of these grains, then he will get the allergy. The pollen can also easy access to the body through his nose, skin pores and mouth that is food mixed with pollen. The allergy here acts the foreign particle that is the antigens. When it gets inside the body and bind to the specific antibody receptor, then it activates the allergic hypersensitive reaction in the person’s body and thereafter produces histamines. Histamine is the mediator of the inflammatory reactions in the body and is the cause of all the symptoms of the Pollen allergy. The symptoms are very severe and in rare cases are often fatal. The symptoms include hay fever, throat irritation, itching, running nose, eye conjunctivitis, nasal congestion, ear infections in children etc. One can know that he is having the pollen allergy only after getting all the symptoms as some of the symptoms are similar to normal cough and cold.

As soon as the symptoms of the 花粉症 start appearing, one must consult a doctor and go for the diagnosis. The doctor prescribes him to go for wheal and flare test that is an immunogenic skin test. The test gives a positive result if the person is having the allergy. The other test is the blood test where the blood sample of the patient is taken and the immunoglobulin E concentration in the body is measured. If the IgE concentration is more, then it concludes that the body is having the allergy. The disease is now widely spread especially in the dry areas where the air is dry that helps the pollen to remain suspended in it. Nowadays with the advent of technology, new drugs and therapies are invented to treat the pollen allergy. The first is the immunotherapy in which pollen specific antibodies are injected into the body to prevent the allergy by increasing the person’s immune power. Other medicines involve corticosteroids that reduces the inflammatory reactions in the nose and throat and thereby reducing the irritation and itching. Another drug is the antihistamines which act against the histamines and therefore reduces the activity of histamine and its inflammations and other symptoms of pollen allergy.
